During the bouts of cancer diagnosis and treatments, Rachel writes e-mails to keep her friends and family updated on her thoughts and spiritual walk.

Run for the Cure

September 9, 2004

I’m going to do it. Run (well, walk) for the Cure on October 3rd. And I’m going to do it for Kate.

So she will never have to go through what I’m going through now. So that she will have a mom to hug her for years to come.

If you’d like to support me, you can do so online at [url deleted...no longer works]. It’s really easy and tax-deductible.

If you’re near Vancouver, there are a few of us who are going to do it together. If you’d like to join us you can get in touch with Julie Smith at [e-mail deleted]. We’ll likely meet someplace before for muffins and coffee and carpool down to BC Place to make sure we can all meet up at the start together. Bring kids too if you want!

I’m 1/3 of the way through chemo now. Round 2 (of 6) was brutal so I’m hoping Round 3 will be better – because it couldn’t be any worse. Happily bald, if a bit cool at times, but realized quickly that I’m not a wig type. Looked too much like a Dallas anchorwoman – of course, I haven’t had reconstruction yet so the resemblance wasn’t exact.

Thanks for considering supporting me!

love,
rb
